MATC Educational Opportunity Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to increase minority student opportunities for work in the medical field, in particular, Surgical Technology within the field of organ and tissue transplants. This fund honors Ray Harmon, an organ recipient and long time advocate for organ and tissue donation.
Applicants must be a member of a minority group, defined as African American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, Pacific Islander, or Alaskan Native, with a primary preference for African American students.
For students that have petitioned for and been accepted into the Surgical Technology Associate Degree program.
Applicants must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA at MATC, or if a new student, at previous college or university attended.
Preference for full time students, but recipients must be enrolled in at least six (6) credits for the semesters in which the scholarship is awarded.
Financial need will be considered, but applicants are NOT required to meet standard criteria of financial need as determined by the Federal Student Financial Aid Program.
$1,000 scholarships will be allocated over two semesters ($500 each semester). If a recipient fails to maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA or enroll in at least six (6) credits, the second semester scholarship will not be awarded.
